WHITE BOXERS*
But I want to tell you is bigger than that, please read below......
I know from the past that a person very close to me bred a white female
boxer. She was one of the prettiest white boxers you could ever put your
eye on. She was health tested. And her
conformation was so right. She had good feet, great top line, tail set
right where it should be, kick butt head! I mean if she had been any
other color than all white with a few fawn spots on her (check boxer)
she would have been to die for. She could hear and see just fine no skin
problems. A very smart dog. 3 years old herself, never had a litter. Her
mother was a very dark BRINDLE still alive at 12 years old and going as
good as a 2 year old pup. And her father now 10 years still plays like
the day the owner brought him home, as a puppy. He's a flashy FAWN. They
have had a good amount of puppies and their puppies have had puppies.
And no one has had any problems with their pups.
Well, with all this
being said, you would think, go for it, breed the white boxer, because
as you can see everything that could be right was right, and the owner
did everything that could be done before the bitch was breed.
But not
knowing that they (white boxers) are double carriers of the recessive
gene.)
That carries the problem that people work so hard not to get in
their bloodlines. I mean come on what are the chances here of really
getting a problem? You'd say. And well yes she found a male with a clean
bill of health. And as plain as any could ever get, just a couple of
white toes on all four feet and a white spot on the chest the size of your hand. So she
thought she could out smart the gene pool. (Right) Well time went by and
her bitch had her puppies she posted pictures of them everywhere she was
so happy. The puppies were a masterpiece. A true work of art. They were
flashy little fawn puppies; a litter of 6 even show people said WOW!
They were full collars, high socks. She'd got the puppies she's always
wanted. Or did she, well she placed all the puppies in there new homes
and kept a female for herself. As time pasted the genes grew and one by
one her puppies that was once the bomb came back to haunt her.
First
puppy owner calls and states that her puppy at 11 months old can barely
walk. And then the other calls come in. She can't believe it; the gene
had done its best work. Prolapsed eyes (cherry eye),
arthritics in front
or rear legs or both, on year old pups, then the genes decide to finish
their work, her female she kept, had a vaginal prolapsed. She had to be
spaded. And even though all these puppies did not have to be put down,
but had and has some high vet bills, this should have never happened!
Update one of those puppies at 3 years of age, was found to have a
thyroid condition. And then a year later found that same dog with
cancer!
There are just too many nice colored boxers out there to have to breed a
white boxer. I am not saying in any way that your boxer is not nice.
Just that you can't beat the gene pool. She's white and for a good
reason, because of her gene pool. I am sure you who want to breed would
make good breeders. Just don't breed whites. You can't change the
genetics.
